HOIMA – In a surprising move, Kitara FC, a rising force in Ugandan football, has officially unveiled Shafiq Raiven Magogo as their latest signing. Notably, Shafiq is the son of Moses Magogo, the current President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA). The announcement has generated considerable buzz and raised questions about the young midfielder’s potential.
Born on March 15, 2004, Shafiq Magogo carries a promising footballing pedigree, having been exposed to the sport from a young age. His father’s influence and passion for football seem to have rubbed off on him, driving him to pursue a career in the sport he loves.
Shafiq Raiven Magogo’s journey in football began with the Edgars Youth Program, where he showcased his innate talent and caught the eye of many. His performances there earned him a spot at Kibuli SS, a renowned secondary school with a rich footballing tradition. During his time at Kibuli SS, Shafiq continued to develop his skills, honing his abilities as a midfielder.
After leaving Kibuli SS, Shafiq Magogo took a significant step in his football career by joining Synergy Futsal Club, where he further refined his technique and gained valuable experience. His time at Synergy Futsal Club molded him into a versatile player capable of thriving in various positions on the field.
In 2021, Shafiq made a significant leap to the top tier of Ugandan football when he signed with UPDF FC. Representing the club for two seasons, he proved his worth on the pitch with impressive performances, drawing attention from other clubs in the league.
Now, at the tender age of 19, Shafiq Magogo embarks on a new chapter with Kitara FC, where he is expected to continue his development as a midfielder. His addition to the squad makes him the seventh player to be officially unveiled by the club this season, signifying the management’s commitment to strengthening the team for the upcoming competitions.
Shafiq was unveiled by Mr. Deo Kasozi, the club president who expressed his excitement, “I’m happy to announce that Shafiq has joined us, he’s the first teenage player to be announced. Our intent this season is to have a relatively young squad and we expect others to come aboard.”
The club president believes that with proper guidance and ample playing time, Shafiq Raiven Magogo could blossom into a vital asset for the club.
As the young midfielder steps into Kitara FC, all eyes will be on Shafiq Raiven Magogo to see how he adapts to the new surroundings and fulfills his potential. Football enthusiasts across Uganda eagerly anticipate witnessing the next phase of his career, as he seeks to carve his own path and create a name for himself independent of his illustrious footballing heritage.
Only time will tell if Shafiq Magogo can live up to the expectations and make a lasting impact at Kitara FC. One thing is certain, though – the young midfielder’s journey is undoubtedly one to keep a close watch on, as he continues to chase his dreams on the football field.
