Ntungamo Territorial Police have initiated an intensive search for Moses Tushabe, a man in his 40s, in connection with a shocking incident involving the hacking death of Danson Kamugisha with a machete.
The tragic incident occurred in Rwemiriro Cell II, Kagango Ward, Rubaare Town Council in Ntungamo and is believed to have been motivated by a love triangle.
The victim, 50-year-old Kamugisha, and the suspect were both allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with Ms. Happy Agnes, a casual laborer in Rubaare Town Council. Agnes had been living in a rented house and was reportedly cohabiting with both men.
Lauben Rwonkole, the chairman of Rwemiriro Cell II, disclosed that the dispute between the two men arose due to their affection for Agnes, who had been previously abandoned by her former husband, a police officer from Ruhaama.
According to the landlord of Ms. Agnes, she frequently spent time with both Kamugisha and Tushabe, making it challenging for him to determine who among them was her husband.
Mandella Nicholas, the nephew of the deceased, recounted the tragic incident, revealing that Kamugisha lost his life around 7:45 pm on August 1, 2023. Tushabe allegedly launched a vicious attack on Kamugisha, striking him repeatedly on the head with a machete before committing the ruthless act.
Both Kamugisha and Tushabe had purportedly abandoned their respective families in pursuit of their romantic interest in Agnes.
Despite multiple attempts to seek a comment from ASP Ilim Muzoora, the officer in charge of Rubaare Police Station, no response was received.
The community is devastated and grieving as the search for the suspect continues. Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about Tushabe’s whereabouts to come forward and aid in bringing him to justice for this atrocious crime.
