Bobi Wine, the prominent opposition leader and head of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has reportedly been shot and injured by security forces. According to the NUP, the incident occurred in Bulindo, Kira within Wakiso District, where Wine was struck in the leg.
The NUP has condemned the shooting as a blatant attempt on Bobi Wine’s life, sharing a video that captures the aftermath of the attack. The party’s statement reads: “Security operatives have made an attempt on the life of President @HEBobiwine. He was shot in the leg and seriously injured in Bulindo, Wakiso District.”
Following the shooting, Bobi Wine was urgently transported to Nsambya Hospital for medical care. At the hospital, several NUP leaders, including the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi, were seen accompanying Wine as he was wheeled into the ward. Visuals from the scene show Wine with blood visibly seeping from his left leg, while medical personnel worked fervently to address his injuries.
