On Sunday afternoon, two individuals lost their lives in a road crash along the Jinja-Kampala highway. The collision involved a trailer with registration number UBH 795T/UAY 361M and a Fuso truck with registration number UAP 937U. The accident occurred at Nakibizi village in Njeru town council, Buikwe District.
SP Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, provided details of the incident. The Fuso truck, driven by an unidentified individual traveling from Jinja towards Kampala, struck a pothole in Nakibizi village, causing the driver to lose control. This resulted in a head-on collision with the trailer bearing registration number UBH 795T/UAY 361M, which was heading from Kampala towards Jinja. Tragically, two people lost their lives as a result of the collision.
The driver of the Fuso truck and the deceased passenger, whose identities are yet to be determined, were transported to the Jinja Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. Meanwhile, investigations into the accident are underway, and the vehicles involved have been handed over to the police for inspection.
