Mukono, Uganda | The Black Examiner – Abubaker Wasajja, the Principal Administrative Secretary for Mukono Central Division and concurrently the Labour Officer, narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation at Seret Grains Uganda Limited. His visit to ensure the company’s adherence to local tax payments took an unexpected turn.
Seret Grains Uganda Limited, located in Kigombya within Mukono Central Division of Mukono Municipality, has reportedly been neglecting its local tax obligations, accumulating an outstanding amount of 15 million shillings over the span of 5 years.
On the morning of Wednesday, tensions escalated as Wasajja arrived at the factory premises. In an alarming turn of events, the security personnel, acting upon orders from the management, forcefully demanded his departure under threat of a firearm. In a further disconcerting move, workers were summoned to forcibly remove him from the premises, a course of action that Wasajja decried as both inhumane and contrary to legal standards.
Expressing his resolve, Wasajja has signaled his intention to take the matter to the courts of law. He seeks to address the management’s perceived disregard for the law and their alleged audacity in obstructing an official engaged in lawful duty.
