Elders from the Teso region extended a ceremonial gesture of authority to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as they warmly welcomed his presence in their sub-region. General Muhoozi was en route to Soroti, where he has planned a two-day visit to engage in various community activities.
The Kongunga Primary School playground was abuzz with excitement as hundreds of residents gathered to greet and honor the first son and presidential advisor. His arrival at approximately 11 a.m. prompted a reception attended by notable figures including Parliament Speaker Anitah Among, her deputy Thomas Tayebwa, and Members of Parliament representing constituencies nationwide. The MPs had congregated in the region to participate in Speaker Among’s thanksgiving celebration.
Upon his arrival, a group of esteemed elders bestowed upon General Muhoozi traditional symbols of power, which included a ceremonial chair and a protective shield. The speaker of parliament, Anita Annet Among, presided over this significant ceremony.
Speaker Among seized the opportunity to express her gratitude to the head of state for the unwavering support he had extended during her campaign for the speakership role.
General Muhoozi engaged the audience with reminiscences of his time serving within the region during the challenging era of the LRA insurgency. He expressed his deep appreciation for the region’s commitment to peace, an achievement he credited the people of the region for.
During his visit, General Muhoozi also took part in community-driven initiatives. He contributed a substantial sum of 240 million Ugandan shillings to the Koena sub-county SACCOs, a testament to his dedication to local development efforts. His journey continued to Soroti city, where he scheduled further community interactions for Tuesday, including a spirited football match followed by a community meeting known as a baraza.
