Mubende, Uganda | The Black Examiner – A 21-year-old man is currently in police custody at the Mubende Central Police Station, implicated in the killing of a 15-year-old girl who he is believed to have been sexually abusing.
The suspect, identified as Godfrey Akandwanaho, and the victim, Sarah Kansimire, were both residents of Buganya village, located in Kalama parish within the Butologo sub-county of Mubende district.
The incident traces back to February 2023 when the victim’s father, who had relocated from Kyankwanzi, sought to establish a new home for his family near the Akandwanaho’s residence. He approached the suspect to rent a room, intending to build his own house on the acquired plot of land.
Facing space constraints, the suspect offered to accommodate two of the girls, including the now-deceased victim, in his room. Tragically, over the ensuing months, the suspect allegedly subjected the deceased to sexual abuse.
Initial police findings suggest that the suspect discovered the victim possessing two phone lines, which aroused suspicions of an additional romantic involvement.
Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, revealed that shortly before midnight on the current day, the suspect confronted the victim regarding sexual intercourse, an encounter that resulted in a heated argument. This altercation escalated, forcing the girl to flee the house.
Kawala further disclosed that Akandwanaho killed Kansimire with a machete, ultimately inflicting a fatal injury. The deceased’s body has since been transported to Mubende Referral Hospital, where it awaits a postmortem examination.
