The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Police has issued summonses for Pascal Mbabazi, the Member of Parliament for Buwekula County, and Michael Muhereza Ntambi, the Chairperson of Mubende district. This summons is in relation to the murder of two individuals within Kilwanyi village, Kilwanyi parish, Kiruma Sub County, Mubende district.

Allegedly, Milly Naava Namutebi (54), the landlord, and her husband Abudallah Kayizzi were killed on the morning of July 31, 2023, due to a dispute over land ownership. Preliminary investigations conducted by the police suggest that the couple and their two sons, Muzafaru Ssekamate and Ibrahim Kawuma, were attacked by a group of around 30 individuals. This group, led by Benjamin Tumusiime, reportedly inflicted fatal injuries on Namutebi and her husband, while the sons managed to escape but sustained serious injuries.

Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, addressed the media today, highlighting that their initial findings point to local leaders, including MP Mbabazi and district Chairperson Muhereza, as contributing to the land conflicts that culminated in this tragic incident.

Enanga also revealed that five suspects have been formally charged with murder and attempted murder in relation to the same incident. Additionally, they have obtained a statement from Steven Ahimbisibwe, the Councilor of Karuma Sub County, regarding the incident. The police are actively pursuing 11 more suspects connected to the case.
