KIBUKU, UGANDA – Police in Kibuku District are currently conducting an investigation into the apparent suicide of a 49-year-old man on July 22nd.
The deceased, identified as James Mukabili, was a peasant residing in Buganza Cell, Kangalaba Ward, Bulangira Town Council, Kibuku District.
SP Immaculate Alaso Emily, the Bukedi North Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that their team has initiated a thorough inquiry into the matter.
According to the preliminary information, on the day of the incident around 4 pm, the deceased was seen at his home by his friend Ali Koboi, who noted that he was intoxicated. Mukabili informed Koboi that he wanted to sleep and then left. However, the next day at approximately 6 am, George Mbayo, the deceased’s biological brother, went to greet him as usual but received no response. When Mbayo forcibly opened the door, he tragically discovered Mukabili’s lifeless body lying on the bed. A container of rat poison was found near the body.
The local leaders, including the area LC1 Chairperson, were informed of the matter and subsequently reported it to the Police. The investigation is currently underway under the case reference Bulangira DEF:002/023.
