Kabale, Uganda | The Black Examiner – Ndikumukiza Gerald, a 30-year-old resident of Kageyo village, Busengo Parish Nyarubuye Sub County. For the past two years, he has been held in custody, facing allegations of the brutal murder of four of his relatives, including his own parents, in the year 2020.
In a heinous crime, Ndikumukiza was found guilty of hacking to death his 80-year-old father, Sebitama Deogratious, his 75-year-old mother, Nyiraguhirwa Bonconsira, his 26-year-old sister-in-law, Mujawimana Maliserina, and his 20-year-old wife, Nyiramahoro Joan, all of whom fell victim to his machete-wielding rampage.
The verdict was handed down by the Kabale High Court circuit, presided over by Hon. Justice Emokor Samuel. The court found Ndikumukiza guilty on all counts of quadruple murder, a conviction that led to a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
The prosecution contended that on the fateful night of September 24, 2020, at Kageyo Village, Busengo Parish in Nyarubuye Sub County, Ndikumukiza employed a machete to carry out his gruesome acts. He began by mercilessly taking the life of his own wife before turning his attention to Mujawimana Maliserina, his brother’s spouse. The horror continued as he proceeded to use the panga on his father and then on his mother, who was tragically not clothed at the time of her tragic demise.
Hon. Justice Emokor Samuel, the Resident Judge of the Kabale High Court circuit, described Ndikumukiza as an individual steeped in malevolence, asserting that he should be deprived of the privilege of basking in the natural world for the remainder of his days. The court’s ruling mandated that Ndikumukiza Gerald be subjected to a life imprisonment sentence, intended to serve as a stark reminder to the wider community that the act of murder is unequivocally unacceptable within the legal framework of Uganda.
