Gulu, Uganda | The Black Examiner – Police in Gulu city are actively pursuing the boyfriend of the slain mobile money agent, Racheal Oroma, as he has violated the conditions of his release on bond.
The individual in question, Opiyo Justin Odoch, had been taken into custody on charges of allegedly raping Racheal Oroma a mere 10 days prior to the grim discovery of her lifeless body in a drainage channel.
Despite Odoch’s temporary release on police bond, a decision based on advice from the Resident State Attorney due to insufficient evidence, he was expected to present himself to the police on the previous day. However, he failed to appear.
According to Ongom David Mudong, the Police Spokesperson for the Aswa River Region, Odoch is now being regarded as a suspect in connection to the untimely demise of his girlfriend, having breached the terms of his bond related to the rape allegation.
In a parallel development, the police have at last identified the individual currently in police custody as Akena James, a 36-year-old Boda-boda rider and resident of Vanguard cell, Laroo-Pece division, situated within Gulu City.
Akena James was apprehended on Sunday after being found in possession of the deceased’s phone and handbag, thus linking him to the ongoing investigation.
The final burial for Racheal Oroma took place on Tuesday afternoon at the family residence in Patongo town council, located in the Agago district.
