Miss Tourism Rwenzori region 2023, Ms. Queen Bridget Kunihira, emerged victorious in a ceremony held at the Kasese Multipurpose Hall in Kasese town last night. The event, officiated by Mr. Francis Mugisa Kithulha on behalf of the esteemed chief guest, Honorable Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga, the State Minister for National Guidance, saw Ms. Bridget Kunihira crowned as the first runner-up. Ms. Loreen Masika and Ms. Amelode Birungu secured the positions of second runners-up.
In a media statement following the ceremony, Mr. Kithulha urged the newly elected Miss Tourism and her team to actively promote tourism in the Rwenzori region and beyond. He emphasized the significance of tourism and its potential for economic growth.
The outgoing Miss Tourism Rwenzori 2022, Ms. Sarah Kenyana, encouraged her successor to utilize this opportunity to positively impact her own life and the lives of the people in the Rwenzori region. Mr. Baritazale Benson Kule, the Chairperson of the Kasese Tourism Investor’s Forum, revealed that over two hundred Kenyans have already registered to participate in the international Thelhuji Marathon, scheduled to take place in Kasese district.
Furthermore, Mr. Kule encouraged athletes in the Kasese district to commence their training to increase their chances of becoming fortunate winners in the upcoming marathon. Distinguished individuals from the political, civil, cultural, and business communities graced the event with their presence.
Mr. Kithulha highlighted that the Miss Tourism Rwenzori event, organized by the Kasese Tourism Investment Forum, revolves around the theme “My Tree, My Thelhuji.” This event serves as a prelude to the second edition of the Rwenzori Thelhuji Marathon, generating excitement and anticipation for the upcoming race.
