Fatal Bar Brawl: UPDF Soldier Succumbs to Stab Wounds

Budaka District Police in the Eastern Region have launched a murder investigation following the untimely demise of a soldier from the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF), reportedly resulting from a bar altercation.

The deceased soldier, identified as Private Martin Mbayo, aged 23, was on pass leave and hailed from Bulomi village, Nanjala Parish, Kameruka Sub-County, Iki-iki County, in Budaka District.

According to the report given by SP Immaculate Alaso Emily, the Police Spokesperson for Bukedi North Region, the incident occurred on July 18, 2023, at 5 pm. Private Martin Mbayo had visited a bar owned by Mr. Robert Tabiruka located in Nabugalo Trading Center, Kameruka Sub-County. It was alleged that an argument erupted between the soldier and the bar owner, leading to tragic consequences. As a result, the police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
